Is it safe to drink tap water instead of filtered water?

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old student doing an assignment regarding the benefits of consuming water and why it should be implemented in one’s diet as much as possible. As an expert in nutrition and health, I would love to get your insight and perspective regarding this matter.

Please take some time to answer these simple questions and comment on your ideas and views.

  1. How does the body benefit from drinking water?
  2. What are the disadvantages of not meeting the required daily water intake, and how does it affect the body?
  3. How can water be increased in one’s daily intake?
  4. Is drinking tap water better for us than drinking bottled or filtered water? If so, why or why not?

Thank you.

What are the best dietary sources of curcumin?

Hello doctor,

I am a 28-year-old female. I would like to know some health information about curcumin. What are the scientifically supported health benefits of curcumin, and how does it work within the body to promote these benefits? What is the recommended dosage and form of curcumin for general health maintenance or addressing specific health concerns? Can you provide guidance on the best dietary sources of curcumin, as well as any cooking or preparation tips to maximize its bioavailability? Is it advisable to consult with a healthcare provider or nutritionist before incorporating curcumin into my daily routine, especially if I have any underlying health conditions or take medications regularly?

Thank you.

Please suggest a non-vegetarian diet plan for diabetes.

Hello doctor,

I am a 37 year old female. I am on diabetic medication since two years. I have attached my reports. Two months ago, my blood sugars were 149 FBS and 154 PPBS. The doctor had prescribed Istamet 50/500 (1-0-1), Gliclapack 30 mg (1-0-0), and Benipack 4 mg (1-0-1). Last week, the sugars were 97 FBS and 100 PPBS, and urine microalbumin was 34 mg/L. The doctor changed the medication to Istamet 50/500 (1-0-1), Gliclapack 30 mg (1-0-0), Benipack 4 mg (0-0-1) and Olkem 20 mg (1-0-0). My BP was 140/90 mm/Hg. He has asked me to do a full diabetic health check up after three months and revisit him. So, please advise the appropriate diet plan.

Is it advisable to follow a ketogenic diet over an extended period?

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old female. Over the past few months, I have been researching various dietary approaches to improve my overall health and well-being. During this time, I have come across the ketogenic diet, which has gained popularity for its potential benefits in weight management, metabolic health, and even neurological conditions. Is the ketogenic diet safe for individuals like me? I understand that the ketogenic diet is high in fats and low in carbohydrates. How can I ensure that I maintain a balanced intake of essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fiber while following this diet? Is the ketogenic diet sustainable for the long term, or is it more suitable for short-term goals? What kind of health monitoring or check-ups should I consider while on the ketogenic diet? Kindly provide your opinion.
