Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 30-year-old female. I am writing to seek your expertise and advice regarding abdominal obesity. Could you please explain what abdominal obesity is and how it is typically measured or diagnosed? What are the potential health risks and complications associated with abdominal obesity, particularly in comparison to general obesity? What are the primary causes and contributing factors to the development of abdominal obesity, and are there genetic or lifestyle factors that play a significant role? How can I recognize the signs and symptoms of abdominal obesity? What lifestyle changes can I make to reduce abdominal fat and lower my risk of associated health issues? How does diet and nutrition impact abdominal obesity? Are there dietary patterns or foods that can help manage or prevent it?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Well, abdominal obesity means fat deposition mostly around the abdominal area. When you take the abdominal circumference measurement around the abdomen and waist area, you can check the obesity level. If the circumference is more than 32 inches, then it will be called as abdominal obesity. You need to keep a check on the circumference level. There are many causes for this, such as:

  1. Lifestyle changes.
  2. Eating junk foods.
  3. Less physical activity level.
  4. More sedentary way of living.
  5. Less mobility over the abdominal area.
  6. Genetics too plays some role.

Small changes in everyday life can make an impact on the physical appearance of your body. Changes like:

  1. More physical activity with a minimum everyday 30 minutes of aerobic activity like walking, or brisk walking.
  2. Portion control over your diet plan.
  3. Physical and mental balance.
  4. Positive and mindful eating includes more fiber, less carbohydrates, and no fat.
  5. More movements of joints and more mobility over the abdomen area.
  6. Conscious breathing techniques.
  7. More fluid intake and mostly water inclusion every two hours.

To keep yourself fit, make small changes in life with more activity and less spending time on the screen and avoid prolonged sitting positions. Check your weight regularly and avoid fatty foods.

Thank you.
