Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 26 year old female. I have been struggling with weight loss, and have some questions. I have been counting calories, but I am not sure how many I should consume daily for effective weight loss. Is it necessary to consult a dietitian, or can I manage my diet on my own? Regarding exercise, how much should I be doing each week to support my weight loss goals? I have noticed I sweat a lot during workouts – is excessive perspiration a sign that I am burning more calories, or just that I am out of shape? Also, I have heard conflicting advice about exercising on an empty stomach versus eating before a workout for optimal weight loss. What do you recommend? Lastly, are there any specific exercises you would suggest for someone just starting their weight loss journey? Please advise.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
For weight loss, it is advisable to follow a diet workout regimen that will balance the calorie intake and calorie burn ratio. So, if you strictly follow any rule, then consult a dietician for a proper diet chart and start with activities from low-intensity workouts to gradually increase to high ones. To avoid water loss from perspiration, hydrating the body is always important. Follow a good pre-workout meal two hours before the session, followed by a post-workout meal after the session for better recovery. Give your body time to understand the exercise pattern, and do not start very fast.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
