Muscle Tone

Muscle tone is the amount of resistance offered by a muscle when it is at rest or passive. It is not related to the strength of the muscle. Even while resting, an individual's arm or leg muscles stay partially contracted due to the muscle tone. A doctor may check for the muscle tone to understand the level of neuromotor function.
