The materials or properties for yoga, like yoga straps, resistance bands, blocks, blankets, etc., should be purchased. One will stick to the yoga poses that are already known and only attempt more challenging poses only under the guidance of a yoga teacher.

Which Are the Yoga Poses That Are Done at Home?

Most yoga asanas can be performed at home. Some challenging yoga asanas need to be done under the guidance of a yoga teacher. Other than that, all yoga asanas can be done at home. Some yoga asanas performed at home include the following -

  • Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward - Facing Dog Pose - Start from the tabletop by keeping both hands and knees on the floor. Lift the knee from the ground upwards, keeping the leg straight and the feet on the floor, along with the lower part of the body and the pelvic region. Form an inverted V shape with the upper and lower part of the body. Keep the hands straight above the head with the palms facing downwards on the floor.

  • Balasana or Child’s Pose - Start from the tabletop position and sit on the knees by touching the pelvis or back on the heels. Bend forward by keeping the chest on the thighs and the head on the floor. Place the hands stretched forward above the head on the floor.

  • Anjaneyasana or Low Lunge Pose - Stand straight on the floor by keeping both legs apart and the hands beside the body. Keep the right leg forward apart, and the knee should be kept at 90-degree angulation to the floor. The left leg should be stretched backward with an angulation of 15 to 20 degrees. The spine should be kept straight and stretched upwards, and both hands should be on the right knee pressing down.

  • Uttanasana or Standing Forward Bend - Stand straight on the floor by keeping the legs stretched straight and both hands beside the body on each side. Slowly bend the upper part of the body forward and downwards, keeping the head on the knees and the chest towards the thighs. Place both hands on the ankle of the legs.
