Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 33 years old and I am 35 weeks pregnant. I am also 194 pounds now, and I am worried about whether my weight will remain the same even after my delivery.
I am already obese, and how do I reduce my weight postpartum?
Are there any methods to follow after delivery to maintain my weight to my ideal BMI?
Since this is my first baby through IVF. I am quite scared to even walk, so that is the reason I have put on too much weight. I am also taking Insulin injections and Thyroxine 150 mg (milligrams).
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Post-pregnancy weight gain is very challenging to shed as it remains for a longer period of time. But it can be corrected with the help of a holistic approach like
Proper diet.
Proper sleep.
Proper physical activity.
Lifestyle modification.
Avoiding stress.
Including low-intensity workouts initially with aerobics, mat exercises, and body weight calisthenics after three months of delivery is advisable.
I would suggest you do the following:
Start doing light, active-free exercises during five to six months of pregnancy, which is safe while resting in bed. But rest is as important as activity.
Include breathing exercises on an everyday basis will increase the oxygen content in the body.
Include more home-cooked food and water intake has to be increased.
Avoid sweetened foods to maintain insulin levels in the blood.
It is normal to gain some weight regularly.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
