How do I get rid of my extra fat?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a skinny fat person and I want to get rid of the fat I have. I am skinny in my calves and the first part of my arms. I am always skinny in that area, but I gain weight on my thighs, stomach, and the second part of my arms. I have been struggling to lose weight for a long time, but I have now realized that I am not skinny or fat, but that I am a skinny fat person and I would want to know what I should focus on, should it be to lose weight I am (154 pounds) or to tone up and be fit? Also, I am slightly a little bit bigger than the pictures on skinny fat people.

Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

As per your saying, there are a lot of people who fall into the category of skinny fat. This is a bodily tendency to gain fat at the stomach, and thigh region. Medications do have a role in it.

  1. Pilates exercises, like the hundred, single leg stretch, the saw will work.

  2. Crunches 20 repetitions daily.

  3. The plank will help tone up your body. 5 repetitions, each of 40 seconds hold.

  4. Avoid starchy, carbohydrate food like rice, pasta, bread, noodles, etc

You should be focusing on loading on stomach fat with toning of the thigh and whole body as well.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Regards.

Thank you.
