This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can I drink a cup of green tea every day post-lunch with half a tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of lemon for weight loss? I am 23 years old, and my height and weight are 5 feet and 116 lbs respectively. Currently, I am not on any medications. I need your suggestions on this.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is helpful but only one thing cannot help you to lose overall body weight.

Follow the dietary modifications mentioned below that can help in weight loss.

Early morning at 7 AM take one glass of lukewarm water with half lemon and a pinch of cinnamon powder.

At 7.15 AM take green tea with four almonds.

Breakfast at 8.30 AM - Dal (lentil) with boiled vegetables one soup bowl with two egg whites.

Midmorning at 11 AM - Take some fruit (apple, sweet lime, oranges, guava, pear).

Lunch at 1.30 PM - Two multigrain atta roti (flat bread) with vegetables, fish or chicken, or soybean curry 100 g.

Evening snacks 5.30 PM - Vegetables or chicken stew half bowl or popcorn.

Dinner 9 PM: Chicken or vegetable stew in one bowl (150 g) with salad on one plate (3 days in a week).

My advice:

1. Take plenty of vegetables and fruits.

2. Avoid fast food, sugary products or beverages, chocolates, and ice creams.

3. Regular exercise is a must (you can take a morning walk for 20 minutes).

4. Monitor your sugar levels regularly.

5. Drink lots of water (8 to 10 glasses a day).

6. Do not overeat.

7. Do not take stress.

8. Use less oil during cooking (try to use rice bran oil).

9. Sleep at least 8 hours a day.

Thank you.
