What could be done to gain weight in a lean male?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male and weigh 88.1849 pounds with a height of 5.1 feet. I am too lean, and I am a vegetarian. But I am good at my core strength as I am a martial artist. I will not feel tired, I will never get exhausted even if I work hard to the peak. But I am very thin. I also perform physical workouts, but with my lean structure, it is all useless. I desperately want to put on weight. Please suggest some medications or activities (my mother is also lean and I guess it is heredity). Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

We welcome you to the icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

If your mother is lean, then it is obvious that you are lean too. But this does not happen in every case. If you are a vegetarian and are doing all the things required for muscle building, here are some tips to follow:

1. Continue with the core strengthening exercises along with some weights.

2. Weight training should be included 20 to 25 min per session. Focus on biceps, triceps, hamstrings, and quadriceps, as you are good in cores already.

3. Have a good diet plan. Include a lot of carbohydrate and fat content in the diet. (1102.31 pounds of carbohydrate and 1102.31 pounds of fat) in addition to what you are already taking.

4. Add ghee, butter, or cheese, wherever necessary to food.

5. Do push-ups (30 times). On the ground and on walls also. Press the walls with a forward movement of the body.

6. Intake of milk is mandatory. It is wholesome and rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and iron. Take one cup of milk twice daily.

7. Have soaked almonds, about ten numbers per day.

8. Start doing meditation for 30 minutes every morning.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you want some help later.

Thank you.
