Swelling or lump in the neck is called neck mass. Some conditions that can result in neck swellings are infectious mononucleosis, thyroid nodules, branchial cleft cyst, goiter, tonsillitis, Hodgkin's disease, thyroid cancer, and lymph node enlargement.
