Steatosis, also known as fatty liver disease, is a condition characterized by an excessive fat build-up in the liver. In steatosis, the fat content in the liver is around 5 % to 10 % of the total weight of the liver. The symptoms of steatosis include pain in the abdomen, nausea, jaundice, loss of appetite, swelling in the abdomen and legs, weakness, etc. The treatment of steatosis involves avoiding alcohol consumption, eating a proper diet that is low in cholesterol, controlling diabetes, etc.
