Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female with a height of 5 feet and 6 inches and I weigh 105 pounds. I am writing to express my concern regarding my body. Despite having a strong appetite and consuming a substantial amount of food, I have not been able to gain weight, and I have a skinny body. I am perplexed by this issue.

I have noticed that, even when I have a modest food intake, such as during breakfast or dinner, I tend to become extremely hungry within just an hour. Conversely, when I have an increased food intake, it appears to get digested rapidly. I would greatly appreciate your insights and guidance regarding this matter.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to give you the best medical advice.

I am very glad that you are one of the few people who can recognize the fact that your metabolism is running too high, and you are getting hungry every hour. Not many people usually notice or pay attention to this fact. I appreciate your observance of this symptom. For your height, your weight seems to be extremely low, and this is definitely a mismatch in body composition and BMI (body mass index) as well. You would need to put on at least 13 to 15 pounds to sustain a healthy body.

Firstly, this could be because you are tuned to a diet that is not really suiting your body type because of which you are not getting the satiated feeling that would usually last a few hours after eating food. Secondly, being skinny in spite of eating frequently shows an underlying deficiency of some vitamin very commonly, usually either vitamin C or there can be calcium deficiency, that many people tend to either not notice or ignore.

So, coming to the main point, I want to know about your food preferences. What is your current diet? Do you eat vegetarian, non-vegetarian foods, or both? Do you consume eggs? How is your water intake per day? How many steps do you walk daily or what is your exercise regimen every day?

Please answer the above questions as it will help me match your BMI with your body type and I can recommend the most suitable diet needed for your composition. In this way, you can sustain a healthy weight and function.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
