What are the tips and tricks to lose weight?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 23 years old and weigh 187.3 pounds. My mom wants me to lose weight, but I feel like she is constantly insulting me. She calls me useless because I am overweight and says she is embarrassed to go out with me. I know she cares about me, but it makes me feel very depressed. Even though I plan to lose weight, I do not end up doing anything about it.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I understand how you are feeling, but your mom is only saying this to encourage you to start working on your health. Mothers always want what is best for us, and they care about you. So try not to feel embarrassed.

Here are some steps to help you get started:

  • Begin with a positive mindset about your life and body.

  • Accept yourself as you are, and then work on improving it.

  • Develop a passion for looking good, feeling good, and thinking positively about yourself.

  • Everyone is beautiful in their own way, but sometimes we need to make changes to feel our best.

Here is a plan to help you:

  1. Start your day with a 40-minute morning walk.

  2. Have a glass of milk before your walk.

  3. For breakfast, choose something light and healthy, like oats, cornflakes, or brown bread.

  4. For lunch, focus on a low-fat, low-carb, high-protein meal. Include salads and boiled green vegetables. Try to avoid red meat.

  5. Do 30 minutes of exercise this could be aerobics, skipping, or dancing. Static jogging works too.

  6. In the evening, go for a run or dynamic jogging.

  7. Practice surya namaskar, which is very helpful for your health.

  8. For dinner, have one chapatti, pulses or cereals, and some fruits.

  9. Avoid chocolates, sugar, and rice.

Stay positive, and take it one step at a time. You have got this!

I hope you are satisfied with my answer.

Thank you.
