This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old female. I look very obese nowadays. When I consulted my doctor, he used a word called parental obesity to me. I would like to know what parental obesity is. Is there any relationship present between parental obesity and me? How does parental obesity affect overall health? How to overcome it? Are there any effective strategies that will work for this?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Parental obesity refers to obesity-related to parents during the pregnancy stage. If the mother is obese during the maternity time, then the child is going to be affected after the birth. It is common for many children to get such obesity issues, which becomes difficult at times to deal with. If treated on time, then a positive result is expected. A routine and determined lifestyle modification can be followed to reduce obesity issues. a daily dose of physical activity and a proper diet rich in protein, fewer carbohydrates, and no fat should be included. Such obesity leads to some serious health complications in the future. So, you can start with some non-weight-bearing activities, followed by pre and post-workout meals. Keep a check on the vitals with regular checkups. Hydration and some exercise modifications will give you good results.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
