Lactose Intolerance

The inability to digest the sugar (lactose) present in milk and milk products is called lactose intolerance. If a lactose intolerant person drinks or eats dairy products, it results in diarrhea, gas, and bloating. It is caused when the small intestine does not produce enough lactase, which is the enzyme needed to digest lactose.
