Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 19 years old. I have significantly less concentration, and it is hurting me. Whenever I sit to study, I get distracted easily, and the foremost thing is that whenever I go to study, some thoughts disturb me as I think about past harmful incidents and friends. It creates anxiety in me like they all will come again in the future. I am overthinking. I also lack confidence, but I crack it every time when I study. So I concentrate on studying and want to forget all about past stuff and only study and study, so how can I do this at home? How can I concentrate on my study? Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. This is a very common overthinking pattern. When the mind is bored with monotonous tasks, it distracts itself. It goes into rumination over old things. What you can do is whenever your mind goes back in thinking, catch it and say, I saw it and acknowledge it. Please, let’s come back to here and now. Also, I suggest you use online applications that will help you in task management on a timed basis to keep yourself completing the task.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
