Human growth hormone is otherwise known as somatotropin. It is the hormone responsible for achieving growth, cell reproduction, and cell regeneration in humans. It is produced by the pituitary gland, and it regulates body functions. It helps in sugar and fat metabolism. The deficiency of growth hormones causes dwarfism, and the affected children are of short stature with normal body proportions. Increased production of growth hormones in the body results in a condition called acromegaly. There is an increase in the size of the bone with increased height.
