Exogenous toxicants cause cellular toxicity. It causes damage to the cells resulting in cell death and organ dysfunction. Cellular toxicity is measured by seeing cell viability using vital dyes and protease biomarkers (used to measure the relative numbers of live and dead cells in the same cell population).
