Anti-malarial

Antimalarial drugs or antimalarials treat and prevent malaria infection. The antimalarial drugs work by targeting the erythrocytic stage (the stage that causes symptoms of malaria) of malaria infection. There are three categories of antimalarials- arylamino alcohol compounds, antifolate compounds, and artemisinin compounds. No antimalarial drug provides 100 % protection against malarial infection and is combined with personal protective measures such as using mosquito repellent and insecticide-treated bed nets and wearing long sleeves.
