How to manage decayed wisdom tooth with pus?
Hello doctor,
My wisdom teeth came a few years ago. The top ones are straight but too close to the molars next to them, so they broke the molars. Those top molars next to the wisdom teeth, as well as those top wisdom teeth are broken, decayed, and sometimes painful. My bottom wisdom teeth have not damaged the molars next to them, but they are not fully erupted out of the gums. One is impacted but does not cause trouble. The other is straight, but in pain, it is also infected.
There is green pus that comes out from between the gum and that tooth as well as from the tooth in front of it. There is also a cracked second molar which the gum is partially detached from and it also has some pus coming from it. Now here is the dilemma, I have been taking Amoxicillin 250 mg three times a day for a month now, and just yesterday I switched to 500 mg three times a day to try to clear up that infection. Yesterday there is no pus, but today there is.
I do not have an appointment with the oral surgeon until a few weeks. I am afraid that this infection will not clear up with the 500 mg Amoxicillin. And the big problem is that I am on Medicaid and they only give us 1000 dollars a year which resets every July. I only have about half of that left which means I cannot go to any more appointments until after this oral surgeon. I can only have three to four of the six bad teeth out. So do I have to extract the bottom infected wisdom and cracked tooth or the semi painful broken decayed top teeth? And to make it even better, I have high blood pressure and severe anxiety and happen to be on Propranolol for the blood pressure and heart rate. I know that Propranolol interacts with local anesthetics that have vasoconstrictor in it, but local anesthetics without vasoconstrictor do not last as long and I am severely afraid of death from dental work (or from infection). So I do not know which teeth to do, what to do about the anesthetic, and I am afraid of the infection spreading. Please help.

Is it necessary to wear retainers after removing braces?
Hi doctor,
I am just wondering if retainers can be used to realign teeth? I have had braces off for a month and have worn mine religiously but it feels like my teeth are relapsing a little bit despite this. Is this possible? Namely, my teeth before braces were not aligned properly, had spaces, and my ortho had trouble aligning them, as they are straight but going across diagonally, but we worked on this and got it better.
When my braces came off, they felt straight, I was really happy. Now, it seems like my teeth are going diagonally and not aligned anymore and is causing anxiety. I want my teeth to come straight down and not be slanted. Also, can my two front teeth be improved by filing? I have already visited my ortho once to have my essix fixed, and my Hawley's was severely tightened during that time, so I feel like contacting them just a couple of weeks later again.

Is jaw bone cracking during tooth extraction common?
Hi doctor,
During a recent extraction of nineth teeth, the dentist said that my right upper back molar had attached itself to the bone. When he tried to extract it a piece of my jaw bone cracked off, pierced the sinus cavity and punctured an artery. Blood spurted everywhere and they frantically applied pressure and packing until it stopped. They sutured it and sent me home with Penicillin. The dentist acted very casual like it happens all the time. I cannot find anything about this subject on the internet. It has been eight days and I have been weak and experiencing constant cold sweats. I do not have fever. I am still spitting out fresh clots of blood three or four times a day. They are not very large, but they are definitely fresh. Is this something that happens frequently with lasting and future effects? What is your opinion of these events?

How long does pain last after wisdom tooth extraction?
Hello doctor,
I had all four impacted wisdom teeth out a week ago. The pain has been absolutely horrible which I knew it would be. However, my left side has healed very well, is no longer swollen with minimal sensitivity. Now my right side is still as swollen as day two or three. It is hard, sensitive and the constant dull throbbing pain is still waking me up at night and literally bringing me to tears.
It is not even the incision site that hurts, it is my entire jawline from my eye all the way down into my lip. My surgeon said this was normal and stuck some medicated gauze there and called it a day. That in which did not help the pain, actually only made it worse. I cannot open my mouth wide enough to even fit a spoon. Should not this be improving by now after seven days? Should I be concerned about the bone fragments or possibly a fractured jaw bone? I am really stressed and my surgeon has provided zero help. I understood that it is four days of recovery time and not seven days of the same miserable swelling and pain with no improvement. I am currently taking Penicillin and Ibuprofen.
