Is weight loss common during treatment for ovarian cysts?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 44-year-old woman. I am taking treatment for a cyst in the ovary and irregular cycle for the last four months. I am given Cabergoline tablets to be taken once in a week. My weight, in the beginning, was 156 lbs. Today I checked weight to be 145 lbs. I did nothing for weight loss except used two staircases of 10 steps each at the workplace. Being a teacher I am bound to use staircase more. Having done nothing I am confused about the reason for weight loss.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Everything is fine. Just because your cyst has disappeared as your hormonal level becomes normal and you keep exercising, so not to worry. Your weight was high just because of hormonal imbalance. Since you have taken treatment for that, your weight reduces. It is a good sign. Not to worry. Just have protein rich and fibre rich diet. Avoid fats.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But my periods are still irregular. This time the cycle started 10 days back and still continuing. I am still taking Cabergoline for milk discharge and Tranlok is advised for stopping the flow.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Start Regestoren tablet 5 mg twice a day at fix time for 25 days and then stop. So, when you stop the tablet, next periods will come.
