Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am planning to lose weight, and I was given probiotics for some dehydration and diarrhea three years ago. I lost five kilograms at that time. Now my weight is 79 kgs, and my height is 151 centimeters. I need to lose weight, so can I start taking probiotics again to lose weight? If not, please suggest something about weight loss.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Probiotics are given post diarrhea to repopulate the gut with good bacteria. According to the studies, obesity and diabetes are linked to the gut microbiome. So, I think there is no harm in taking probiotics, but I cannot comment on whether they will help you lose weight.
