I cannot sleep at night, but when I do, I cannot get up for 9 or 10 hours. Is this because of stress?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 18 years old. I cannot sleep at night. When I sleep, I cannot get up for nine to ten hours. When I cannot sleep, I usually keep using my laptop. I am overweight. I have a weight of 94 kilograms. I do not know the cause. Can I have this issue due to stress?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. You are facing sleep disturbance due to unavoidable sleep patterns. You have this issue due to changed work schedules. Stress plays a key role. When a thought process is going on, our mind finds it difficult to shut down. Regarding weight, it can disturb your sleep pattern. Try to reduce your stress by following some relaxation techniques and rule out the cause behind your stress.
