Hi doctor,

My friend is 28 years old and planning to get married, but she wanted to stay fit and healthy before that. She looks obese; her weight is 172 pounds, and her height is 5.2 feet. She tried many exercises and diet plans, but nothing seemed to work. She decided to visit a doctor, and he suggested a Semaglutide tablet. I did some online research and found that this drug is for diabetes. But my friend does not have any health issues. Then why was this drug suggested, and is that a steroid? Will it harm my friend’s health? Is this drug safe to take for weight loss?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You can opt for a call consultation. Making a healthy food choice and reaching the required calorie count will be helpful. I still need many details for proper medical intervention to provide a customized diet plan. These drug work on insulin resistance hence improving weight loss. Every drug has some side effects. Till then, follow these tips:

  1. Increase high protein diet, including almonds, walnuts, vegetables, paneer, soya, tofu, lean meat, and eggs.
  2. Include chia seeds and flax seeds.
  3. Do follow the same workout regime, planks, swimming, and basketball.
  4. Increase fluid intake.
  5. Do rest, and take eight hours of sleep.
  6. Manage stress with meditation.
  7. Do breathing exercises.
  8. Manage to follow small frequent meals.
  9. Take a 1500 kcal diet, carbohydrates 40 %, protein 40 %, fat 20%, and increase fiber intake up to 30 % of your diet.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
