HomeAnswersPhysiotherapyneck painI have been experiencing pain and discomfort radiating from my right shoulder and ear to the right side of my neck. What could be causing this?

Is right-side neck pain related to a vein or muscle soreness?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

The side of my neck has been bothering me. On the right side feels like a big vein or muscle sore. It is hurting on the right side by attendance, and sometimes pain goes to my shoulder and ear, so I am not sure what it is.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your concern. Your neck pain is due to faulty posture while sleeping. The facet joint in the spine got locked in a faulty position, not giving enough room for the neck to move to its full range. Giving rise to spasms around the neck muscles. If you were your treating doctor, I would suggest you go to lots of icing over your painful neck area frequently, like once every two hours.

  1. Very gentle neck stretching exercises by bending the neck sideways forward.
  2. Very gentle massage over the painful neck area.
  3. If you have any anti-inflammatory medications prescribed to you earlier, you can have them.
  4. Drink a lot of water.
  5. Support your neck while sleeping.
  6. Maintain good posture while sitting.
  7. Avoid prolonged sustained posture like looking into the computer for a long time.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Kindly revert in case you need any further help in this regard.
