Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 42 years old, married five years back, with no child, and undergoing fertility treatment. I had undergone an IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure twice but was not successful. I had undergone semen analysis, which indicated I had average quality sperms, with 40% of healthy sperms four years back. After our second IVF failure, I was suggested to do SCSA (sperm chromatin structure assay), and the result was fair to poor DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) integrity. The doctor has asked us to take Maxoza-L for three months and repeat the SCSA test. Based on the test result, the possibility of an IVF procedure will be planned. My partner had pelvic tuberculosis, and her tubes were damaged. She had to take treatment for three years. Later, the IVF treatment started, but now there is a problem with semen. So, we have limited options to improve the semen quality. I am an environmental scientist or environmental consultant. I do not have any exposure to chemicals or toxins but frequently travel. I was an athlete until 30 years old and gained weight after I quit athletics. Now, I am 5.5 feet tall and weigh 167 pounds. I developed hypertension four years back and take Olmezest 40 and Rozat 10 daily. Can I take Maxoza-l along with other Sidda or Ayurveda medicines? Please advise on suitable lifestyle modifications.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

As you age, the chances for fertility decrease because of other risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, and mental stress. In your case, the quality of semen in terms of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) integrity has declined within three years. Usually, chromatin damage occurs in humans working in industry or when exposed to chemicals, toxic drugs, or radiation. The possibilities in your case might be a stressful life, frequent travel, and aging. Please continue Maxoza-L (Levo-carnitine, Fructo Oligosaccharide, Citric acid, and Folic Acid), as per the physician's advice. In addition, I suggest the following:

1) Take a bath daily. Morning head and body bath and only body bath in the evening.

2) Apply daily Kumari ennai (Aloe Vera, Castor oil, and Cumin), Kulir thamarai thailam (Lotus, sesame oil, and Thulasi), or Brahmi thailam (Brahmi leaves and coconut oil) one hour before the morning bath. It is to maintain normal body temperature.

3) Avoid continuous sitting or wearing tight pants. Wear cotton or loose pants.

4) Avoid tea, coffee, chicken, packed juices, or foods. It will have a bad effect on sperm.

5) You can drink bhadam milk, cow milk, tender coconut water, and fresh fruit juices.

6) Consume one capsule of 'Rathina Pursh' (Withania somnifera, Mucuna pruiens, and Hybenthus ennespermus) twice daily for three months.

7) Engage in learning new stress-free arts such as yoga or pranayama. Do practice it regularly.

8) Go to a temple or church and have maximum hope in your favorite God and the medicines you take.

9) Go to a picnic to relax your mind. Stress will affect your hormone level.

The newly formed sperm will take approximately 70 days to become mature and healthy. Thus, continuous medicine or building a lifestyle routine is important. I think these medicines will improve sperm quality, which is more than enough for conception. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
