Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My father is diabetic and he is taking Dupixent tablets last two years. His sugar fasting level is 135 mg/dl and postprandial is 180 mg/dl. Is that normal or high? And is the medicine effective? He is still having frequent urination problems. Should he get any alternate medicine? He gives us a physician who is not available currently. Can you please provide a wide opinion on this?

Hello,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern for your father. The information provided by you is quite limited. The blood sugar levels mentioned are on a little higher side. Not to worry, at times depending on the age of the patient and other co-morbid conditions, sugar levels should not be controlled stringently in elderly patients as hypoglycemia is more dangerous. Kindly get back to me with more details about the patient like age, weight, and medical history. his HbA1c level (any other blood test reports if available) and his current diabetic medications. Dupixent tablet is not a diabetic medication. For now, you can monitor him with his diet. Decrease his intake of carbohydrates and increase protein and fiber. Increase fresh vegetables or salads and fruits. Kindly take consultation with the necessary reports for more appropriate diagnosis and treatment. I hope I cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
