Medical Conditions - Blood Disorder

Blood disorders include disorders of red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), platelets, and plasma. RBC disorders are various types of anemia like thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, pernicious anemia, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, polycythemia vera, and malaria. In anemia, there is a reduction in hemoglobin count. In polycythemia vera, there is excessive production of RBCs. Malaria infects red blood cells. WBC disorders are leukemia or blood cancer, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and myelodysplastic syndrome. Platelet disorders include thrombocytopenic purpura (blood clots and low platelet count) and thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). Bleeding and clotting disorders comprise plasma disorders.
