Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from schizophrenia, treated for a heart attack, and underwent angioplasty. I experience anxiety attacks. Could an anxiety attack trigger a heart attack?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Anxiety attacks raise both your heart rate and blood pressure, which obviously puts more stress and demand on your already fragile heart. So, theoretically, the risk of a heart attack or ischemia of the heart is increased during an anxiety attack.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
