Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have not been eating properly. Am I anorexic?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are not anorexic. According to your height, your weight is normal, and also BMI (body mass index) is normal. Firstly you should check the thyroid and stress level. Daily exercise with a proper diet will help you achieve your weight with fitness. I give you a diet chart. Alternative foods are also mentioned.

  1. Early morning (7 a.m.) - Three to four soaked almonds or sprouts.
  2. Breakfast (8.30 a.m) - Brown bread (two pieces), three boiled eggs (without yolk), two roti with milk, and two peanut butter.
  3. Midmorning: (11 a.m)- Fruit juice especially pineapple, banana milkshake one glass of any fruit juice.
  4. Lunch (1.30 pm) - Rice - Two cups, of vegetable curry, one bowl of egg, rajma, mushroom curry, fish, egg, chicken curry one bowl.
  5. Evening snacks (5.30 pm) - Vegetable soup.
  6. Dinner (8.30-9 pm) - Roti or rice one cup, and paneer curry one bowl.

I suggest you to follow a few things mentioned below:

  1. Do exercise like strength training, or yoga.
  2. Avoid stress and alcohol.
  3. Take plenty of water (10 glasses a day).
  4. You should eat more food at each meal by forcing.
  5. Before having a meal you can walk sometimes as it helps you feel hungrier.
  6. Sleep at least seven to eight hours per day.
  7. You can take chocolate, pastry, cake, chips, butter, ghee, and paratha.
  8. If you have no other health problems and you are physically fit then you do not have to be tense about your weight. It is better to avoid taking any supplements to gain weight.
  9. Young people are always dissatisfied with their height, and weight.
  10. Do not compare yourself with others by body weight or height.
  11. Aim for strength and fitness.

Be satisfied and confident about your looks. Continue with your good diet and exercise and over some time your body will change. Kindly remember gaining weight is a time-consuming process. So do not expect any result within a fortnight.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
