Why is there a swelling even after throat ulcer is healed?

Hello doctor,

I do not have tonsils. They were removed a year ago. Three to four days ago, I got an ulcer in my throat. It hurt for two or three days. The ulcer is healed now but it has this mass or inflammation under it. What is this? I have never seen this with an ulcer.

I currently have tonsil stones that do not occur every day but at a rate of three to four a week. Also, I notice it does not take much for me to get hoarse and my voice cracks for no reason when talking. I have also noticed that my sense of smell is off.

What could be done to resolve CSOM in the left ear?

Hi doctor,

Before five years, I had a left eardrum rupture and transparent watery pus discharge. It turned pale after some time. I tried an ayurvedic ear drop to treat pus discharge. Then, the pus discharge stopped, but there was some itching inside the ear. After 5 years, I was diagnosed to have CSOM in my left ear. I feel some hearing problem in the left ear. Though pus did not come again, the rupture has now gone large. Also, a few days ago, I felt severe dizziness that I could not move on my own. Dizziness occurred on moving head up or down, on getting up and during walking. Dizziness continued for the whole day and even that night I could not sleep. I took Vertin 16 mg to stop the dizziness.

Is it safe to take steroids for swelling in the throat?

Hi doctor,

I was chewing fennel and after a few minutes I felt that it has stuck in my throat (upper side), I am not sure if it was stuck or not, because I got a sore throat after that,so I thought it might be because of that. I went to the doctor (ENT) and he checked my throat and he did not find anything, he told me that I have a little swelling in my throat, and gave me some medicines, and told me that if I will feel good after the medicine, then no need to come, otherwise we will do CT scan. The medicines he has given me are as follows:- 1. Capsule Panraloc two times daily for five days. 2. Tablet Macpred (4mg) two times a day for seven days. 3. Tablet Odimont-AL. 4. And something for gargling. As he told me tablet Macpred is a steroid, so I thought I should take a second opinion.

What causes constant throat irritation and acid reflux?

Hi doctor,

For about five days now, I have this sensation of a pill stuck in the throat right below Adam's apple. There is no pain at all. It is not there in the morning but will show up throughout the day. I can eat and swallow without any problem, and it seems to go away when I eat. It is not quite as bad as the first three days. I did go to urgent care, and the doctor looked at the back of my throat, checked ears, breathing, and checked for swollen nodes and thyroid and said all felt normal. I did explain to him that I have had constant drainage down the back of my throat. There is no runny nose, but stuffy with occasional pain in head and eyes. I said it was probably inflammation in my throat. I notice that the bottom of the throat will get dry and that it is when it is the worst. He gave me Amoxicillin and some liquid allergy medicine to help break up the congestion. I do also have acid reflux. I have been taking 150 mg of Zantac twice a day since then. What are your thoughts on this?
