Why is not my daughter's mosquito bite improving with treatment?

Hello doctor,

I am concerned about my daughter who was bitten by a mosquito last thursday, on her face. The bite site has not decreased despite the passage of time. We have been applying Bactroban (Mupirocin) cream to the affected area, but there has been no significant change in appearance.

Fortunately, she is feeding well, has not developed a fever, and does not seem to have discomfort. However, I am concerned about the lack of improvement in the bite’s condition. Please find attached images of the bite at different stages. As you will notice, the bite remains quite pronounced. Could you advise if this is a normal reaction or if there is anything additional we should be doing or any signs we should be looking out for? I appreciate your guidance on how to best proceed with her care.

Is the use of Phenobarbital syrup considered safe and effective for newborns?

Hello doctor,

I have a newborn baby boy, born a few days ago, weighing 8.81848 pounds. after a 40-week normal pregnancy. Following a regular delivery where the baby cried normally, the pediatrician prescribed phenobarbitone syrup after vaccination. Despite asking about potential seizure issues, I was informed it aids in the baby's sleep and prevents jaundice. I am seeking guidance on whether it is advisable to administer the phenobarbitone syrup to my newborn, considering my concerns. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Why are laboratory tests essential for diagnosing enlarged lymph nodes?

Hello doctor,

My baby is 7 months old. I found swollen lymph nodes on both sides of the neck two days back. I found two nodes on one side, one on the other side, and also one node in the groin. My baby gets a dry coughs during the night. He got the pneumococcal vaccine three weeks back and had respiratory diseases such as RSV during the fall, and asthma medicine was given. The cough started then. I consulted the doctor, and the doctor prescribed some laboratory tests. Blood tests showed that the B thrombocytes were high by 539, and eosinophil levels were 7.2 %. What does this mean? Kindly give your suggestions.
