What is the appropriate management for benign prostatic hyperplasia?

Hello doctor,

I visited the doctor a year ago and was diagnosed with a UTI. Following a referral to a urologist, I underwent an ultrasound and PSA test, leading to a diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia. I was prescribed Finasteride, and I shared the ultrasound results in our recent consultation about a month ago. My PSA test, taken five months before starting Finasteride, showed a value of 2.5. A month ago, I was diagnosed with NGU urethritis, experiencing symptoms like itching during urination and clear discharge. I was prescribed a seven-day course of Doxycycline and two tablets of Cefixime. While all symptoms initially disappeared about four days after starting the medication, the slight clear discharge returned five days ago, primarily occurring during the day with minimal volume.

Kindly provide your suggestion.

Does a recurrent breast cyst pose a cancer risk?

Hello doctor,

I am 31 years old. No family history of breast cancer. I have never been pregnant and never used a contraceptive. Before two years, I felt a breast lump (breast cyst-did does not disappear with aspiration. Aspirate was straw-colored). Got it out a year later. Biopsy showed fibrocystic breast disease with adenosis. As soon as the inflammation subsided, like a month after, I noticed a mass in that same location with the same consistency, firm, mobile. I guessed it was the same cyst, perhaps a recollection. Did the surgery six months later with the mass sent to another pathologist and the biopsy result was the same. Fibrocystic breast disease with adenosis.

Two months postoperatively, same location, another one, mobile, firm, and sometimes tender. Increasing in size. No nipple discharge but disturbing. Plus now, I have a nasty scar. I should do a Mammo, but the breast is dense and standing. I feel it would be extremely painful.

Does E. coli cause urinary tract infection?

Hello doctor,

My mother had a UTI a few months ago and an antibiotic course was given for 10 days. Last week we did a routine urine check and the report is attached below. She has no symptoms but her urine culture shows E.coli. Please suggest.

Can exercising cause the urge to urinate?

Hi doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female weighing 203 pounds. I have no children and I am not taking any medications, and I do not smoke or drink alcohol. I have been working out regularly over the past few weeks and have started losing weight. I have been feeling great. However, I recently noticed a sensation like my bladder was full, but when I went to pee, it was not full. This has been happening since then. I do not have a urinary tract infection (UTI) or yeast infection. My urine is clear, and I have no pain or burning sensation when urinating. Last week, I began doing some intense stretching exercises in my lower abdomen.

Is it possible that stretching my lower abdomen could have strained my muscles and made my bladder more sensitive? I typically sleep through the night and only wake up once to use the bathroom, which is normal for me because I drink water before bedtime. However, when I walk, I feel like I need to urinate even though my bladder is not full. This sensation is not as noticeable when I am sitting down. It seems to have started suddenly overnight, and the only change I can attribute it to is the stretching exercises I have been doing. It is really bothersome. I have anxiety and tend to fixate on things. Besides this issue, I do not have any other symptoms. I have been considering stress urinary incontinence (SUI), but I have not found information suggesting it can develop so quickly.

Please help.
