Why is the fasting blood sugar level more than postprandial?

Hi doctor,

My fasting blood sugar is 130 to 135 mg/dL over last four years. My postprandial sugar is between 90 to 110 mg/dL. Yes, my postprandial is less than my fasting sugar level. Usually, the reading will be taken after 1 hour 45 minutes or 2 hours after eating breakfast. I am unable to bring down the fasting sugar level. My HbA1c reading is 6 %. I am taking Glycomet 500 mg before dinner daily. Can you tell me why my fasting is higher than my postprandial?

Is it recommended to use insulin injections over tablets?

Hello doctor,

I am 33 years old. One year back, my HbA1c result was 8.2 %. Then, I started to take medicine Dailyglim M1 for three months and started some workout and took light food. Then, my sugar level came down. Fasting and PP result were in 105 mg/dL and 160 mg/dL range respectively. But, after some time it went bad again and I started to take Dailyglim M2 twice a day since the last two months. One week back, my HbA1c result was 6.7 % and my fasting 105 mg/dL and PP (without tablet) was 180 mg/dL. I consulted a doctor. She told me to take Insulin 10 units two times a day. She said this is better than taking tablets. Please suggest what to do.

Is there anything to worry about raising blood sugar levels?

Hello doctor,

My grandfather aged 79 years has diabetes for past 22 years. He has been on medication since then. He has other parameters normal but his sugar levels are quite high for some time. Before three months, the fasting blood glucose level was 116 mg/dl and postprandial blood glucose level was 206 mg/dl and a month back, his fasting blood glucose level was 186 mg/dl and postprandial blood glucose level was 362 mg/dl. He is currently having following medications: Zemiglo 50, Glycinorm 40, Tide 10, Cilamet XL 25, Modlip ASG, Pantoze LS, Gabapin NT. Otherwise, he is normal and his other parameters are normal. He eats rice for the lunch and otherwise, he avoids sugar as much as he can. Is there anything to worry and also please elaborate further line of treatment. Three months back, his creatinine was 1.5 mg/dL which lowered to 1.4 mg/dL after the above medication.

I have stomach pain and darker stool. What could be the reason?

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old male, and have stomach pain for around a week (mostly after eating). The pain starts in epigastric regions, and then to lower abdomen. I started noticing changing stool color to more darker stool. There is no diarrhea or vomiting, no fever. I am taking Omeprazole for two days without a relief. What could be the reasons? And what should I do?
