What are the methods for managing major depressive disorder?
Hello doctor,
I am a female, 18 years of age, 5'1", 160 lbs. I am currently on the medications Seroquel 50 mg and Remeron 45 mg. I have been diagnosed with the major depressive disorder (severe with psychotic features), and generalized anxiety disorder. I have been on multiple medications that have not helped me. These are Prozac, Zoloft, Clonidine, Buspar, Vistaril, Risperdal, Luvox, Remeron (currently on), Seroquel (currently on), and Cymbalta. I am reaching out because I am struggling a lot and I feel hopeless. I do not know what to do at this point. Some of my symptoms are crying multiple times a day every day, feeling extremely overwhelmed, no energy at all. I cannot stop my mind from racing and thinking about too much at once, and more. My anxiety is so severe that I cannot go anywhere alone, I sweat, my heart races, I panic. What should I do at this point? I have a 2-year-old little boy. I have had a very hard childhood and deal with a lot of those issues today. My father passed away from cancer and my mother abandoned my sisters and me for drugs. This has impacted me greatly.

What could be done in a 12-year-old resistant to Celexa?
Hi doctor,
My 12-year-old girl has been on Celexa from the age of seven years for GAD. She has been on 20 mg for the past three years. It has worked well for anxiety and mood regulation. She has been irritable and angry with some depression for the past six months. Would you think we should look at changing the medications? Should we go for an add-on medication or increase the dosage of the current one? She is also taking Synthroid, Singulair, and Benadryl.

What possible psychiatric problems can a person develop in the following scenario?
Hi doctor,
I do not want a therapy, but I would like your opinion on what kind of personality or problems a person could develop as an adult if the following happened to him as a child. He got sick as a kid from meningitis in the 60´s. His uncle was a pediatric and placed him on a first check in the hospital to make sure that the child as a patient was calm. He forbade his mother from seeing him in the hospital, and the mother did not come after a dramatic goodbye scene from the kid at the hospital. He was 4 going 5 at that time. In the hospital, he was tied up to make sure the baxters did not get disturbed. At night, his father and the doctor sneaked unannounced to grab him for a spine puncture. As the kid wrestled and cried from the pain of the puncture, the uncle was very angry and said that kids should not cry. So, the next time it happened, the kid shut up an vowed not to make a sound. After seven days at the hospital, the kid was then taken to the uncle's house where his aunt took care of him, and this during a full month. Only after a month, he saw his mother back.
