What are the chances of getting Barrett's esophagus?

Hi doctor,

I am a 27 year old female. I was going through a lot of stress and started consuming alcohol at least 3 drinks a day. For the past 5 years, I have been suffering from acid reflux along with severe regurgitation and taking tablet Prilosec. I fell sick a month ago and taught it to be a respiratory infection and avoided my medicine. Within a matter of a few weeks, I could feel that my esophagus had burnt. I started regurgitating huge amounts of partially digested food. Some of the symptoms associated along with them are, my voice has become mildly hoarse. There is pain when I tend to shout or speak loudly. Generally, I have difficulty in swallowing. When I swallow, I get a feeling that my food gets stuck halfway itself for a few hours and often I have a dry throat. The regurgitation gets worse when talking or shouting. The regurgitation consistency is not the same always. Sometimes, it is acidic, sometimes it is clear or foamy and sometimes with the presence of mucus or food in it. For about three weeks I am taking tablet Prilosec 40 mg a day. Initially, I felt better with the medicine. But still, have pain while speaking as well as swallowing. It has not shown any improvement even with medicine. I do have constipation at times because of the medicine. I would like to know, will this medicine work for a longer duration and reduce my symptoms and make me feel better? Can you let me know, what are the chances of getting affected by Barrett's esophagus or cancer? Is the difficulty of swallowing due to stricture or esophageal spasm? Please suggest ways to manage constipation associated with medicine. Thank you.

What could be done to manage eczema in a 5-month-old baby?

Hi doctor,

My 5-month-old baby has pretty bad eczema. Just recently, he had a bad flare-up in both legs, arms, hands, and cheeks, which he was weeping. For 80 % of the day, he is suffering from a rash and seems to have no relief at all. He scratches and cries continuously throughout the day and wakes up in his sleep. None of the remedies we tried have produced relief, such as wet wraps, bleach baths, ointments, eczema creams, cortisone, etc. Is there a product that is good and available OTC? Would he need something prescription based? Could it possibly be something in the environment that is causing the flare-up, like dust? His mother has altered her diet to accommodate him accordingly. Is weeping a sign of infection?

What could be done to resolve grade one fatty liver?

Hi doctor,

I am a 33 year old male. Recently, I went for a master checkup. To my horror, I found my liver reports abnormal. I have attached my reports for your reference. The ultrasound of abdomen revealed grade-I fatty changes in liver. Apart from this, my triglycerides levels are also elevated. My cholesterol levels are well within the limits. I am very much concerned. When I consulted a gastroenterologist, he recommended to abstain from meat, egg yellow and sweets for three months and suggested an active life and healthy food. The doctor did not prescribe any medicines. Please suggest me what to do. From the day of results till date, I have abstained from meat and have been doing exercise regularly. Moreover the doctor said that I suffer from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I have never touched alcohol and cigarette. I do not have any bad habits. Please suggest me a way to improve my health. Why is my alkaline phosphatase elevated abnormally? Do I have jaundice? When can I recheck my levels again? I do not have any symptoms like yellowing of eyes, skin and stomach pain, etc. Is there anything serious?
