What are the home remedies for a sore throat, fever, cough, and trouble swallowing?

Hello doctor,

For the entire day, my cough did not stop for a while. I do not know what to do. I did take some traditional medicine, and it did temporarily stop my coughs. However, the cough has started again now. I cannot sleep at all. My cough started when I had a fever four days ago. When my fever started, I also started to have a sore throat. My fever gradually improved, and I am still around 100.4 degree Farenheit. However, today I noticed I started coughing more and more, and now at night, my coughs have become quite frequent, and I cannot sleep. Every time I cough, my stomach just forces me to stay awake. For my sore throat, swallowing is a bit of a problem. I feel a lot of pain every time I swallow, so I have been eating more mushy food for the past four days. Kindly help.

Can rabies be transmitted through saliva?

Hi doctor,

A dog in our neighborhood has rabies. It was moving around on the road and might have dropped saliva on the concrete path. My son abruptly touched the road and then his forehead (unsure whether saliva was there or not). I washed his hand with handwash and water immediately but only wiped his forehead with handwash mixed with water once.

Then he wiped his forehead with a cloth to dry it, and some water (I am not sure if the saliva was still there) may have gotten into his eyes while doing so. Is there any concern about rabies in this case? All of this happened in about a minute, from touching the road to wiping his brow with a cloth. Is he in danger? I was concerned because he could have touched the saliva, and he might have touched his eyes with those hands. Does he require a vaccine?
