Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 16-year-old male, and I have noticed that I have no real dietary sources of vitamin K2. I may be deficient in it. Since vitamin K2 is essential and helps direct calcium into bones rather than arteries, should I consider taking a vitamin D3 and K2 (MK-7) supplement at 55 mcg?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I am an oral surgeon and nutrition and fitness therapist. So, can you please tell me why you are feeling deficient in this particular vitamin? Are you feeling any symptoms clinically, anything like fatigue or any bleeding issues anywhere, or muscle mass loss?
Anything like that, because of which you are suspecting a vitamin K2 deficiency? Do you intake fermented foods, hard cheese, or eggs, etc, or any omega-3 intake or fish? Let me know your preferred options, and I will explain how to follow a nutrition chart for this vitamin.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
