Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You have correctly identified that your symptoms are possibly suggestive of sleep paralysis. Did you have these symptoms in your teenage years? Does anyone else in the family have similar symptoms? It may have been mild and not recognized. Treatment depends on the frequency of sleep paralysis and its effect on your life.

1) It is not a severe issue if you get only occasional sleep paralysis and if it does not affect your normal functioning. It will help to have a good sleep routine. Sleeping for at least six to eight hours at night would be best. Try stress relaxation exercises at bedtime.

2) If sleep paralysis happens regularly and affects your daytime work, then it is suggested to have further assessment.

Consult a neurologist to rule out conditions like narcolepsy.

Appropriate medications can treat these like stimulants.

Overall, this condition can be managed with support. There is no cause for unnecessary worry.

I hope you find it helpful.

Kind regards.
