Rotator Cuff Repair

The surgery to repair a torn tendon of the shoulder or rotator cuff is known as rotator cuff repair. A rotator cuff is a collection of tendons and muscles that attach the humerus to the shoulder blade. Sportspersons, carpenters, and people with jobs that involve repetitive stress to the rotator cuff are prone to injury. There can be a tear, inflammation, or bursitis causing pain. Either open surgery or shoulder arthroscopy is performed under general anesthesia. A mini-open surgery is performed to remove any calcium deposits. Then, small rivets and sutures are used to attach the tendon back to the bone.
