Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Can massaging with olive oil give a good complexion to my newborn? I have heard from my childhood that applying olive oil gives a good complexion. Can you please explain me on this? And some told me that it would make the skin dark. I am confused between these two opinions. Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, and things like squalene and oleocanthal, which may help repair skin damage. Olive oil is not toxic for babies, destroys dangerous microbes, and is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction, which makes it a good choice for your baby's delicate skin. However, it is necessary to control the appropriate amount for the baby. Babies from six to 12 months old can use one tablespoon of olive oil in a day, divided into three meals per day, each meal should not exceed one teaspoon. Complexion does not affect it will be fine as the kid grows.
I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you.
