Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My back, upper or middle, has a lot of tension, and the neck is very stiff, which must be 'cracked' to relieve it temporarily. Pain near the shoulder blades and tension in the middle back near the spine. My x-ray findings are normal. What should I do next?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your current problem is most likely neck stiffness, specifically levator scapula stiffness. It is pulling your shoulder blades and tensing the muscles in your upper back. I recommend you apply cold compression around the neck's nape once every 2 hours. Massage gently over the side of the neck. Gentle stretching of the levator scapula muscle, like rotating your neck until midway between the nose line and shoulder line and pulling it downwards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
