Hello doctor,
I am 18 years old girl and normally squat reasonably heavy 143 lbs. These past weeks I have been feeling a straining tugging pain coming from my right knee on the inside. I think it is the MCL. It does not cause me any problems in day to day life but hurts a decent amount when I squat even with no weight. I am worried if it is serious. I have been doing no weight this past week and using the band to strengthen my hip flexors and stuff. I am on a cut at the moment so I do not want to be stopping exercise. Please help.

I read your concern. In my opinion, you would have a VMO (vastus medialis oblique) issue which may be tender and stiff since it is involved in the final degree of knee locking and will come into play during locking of the knee.
