Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a middle-aged female. I would like to know about intermittent fasting as I heard that it works well for people trying for weight loss. Will this intermittent fasting work well for diabetic and hypertensive patients? I am planning to start soon.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
Intermittent fasting is not recommended for diabetic people as it is not a balanced diet. Intermittent fasting is not the right way to lose excess fat if your target weight is high as one can be on intermittent fasting for a maximum of one month regularly. Else it may result in nutritional deficiencies as it is not a balanced diet. Better to follow a high fiber low-fat diet along with adequate proteins followed by a detox diet. Drink plenty of water every day. Take small and frequent meals at regular intervals. Avoid outside food completely.
I hope this has helped you.
Thanks and regards.
