Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My health issues include borderline total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. I have been suffering from hyperlipidemia for the past five years, and I have attached all my reports for your reference. I have lost weight, reducing my weight from 165 pounds to 147 pounds. Through dietary control, I have managed to lower my triglycerides slightly. My triglyceride levels were significantly elevated due to the Isotretinoin medication I was taking for my skin, which I have since discontinued. Previously, I was on Escitalopram 5 mg for depression. My liver function tests remain normal, and my X-ray and ultrasound results indicate that I have not developed a fatty liver. What dietary changes can I make to reduce my cholesterol, considering that my other health parameters are normal?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
We are here to help you. This level of increase in triglycerides does not require treatment with medication. You should incorporate more cardiovascular workouts into your routine and reduce fat intake in your diet. Consider replacing all your cooking utensils with non-stick options. No oil is entirely healthy, whether it is olive or mustard. Strictly avoid fried foods and limit your consumption of potatoes, rice, sugar, and sweets.
Interestingly, the solutions to help reduce your cholesterol can be found in your kitchen. Take fenugreek, grind it, and consume three teaspoons of it at night with water. Additionally, chew one clove of raw garlic daily. These two kitchen ingredients can be very beneficial for you.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
