How to deal with a partner who does not care about other?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am in a relationship and staying with him. I feel like he does not take care of me. If he ignores me, I get depressed and feel like he does not need me anymore. He respects my decisions but imposes things on me. If he does some work, he is not willing to tell me. Though I support him, he is not willing to tell me. These little things hurt me a lot. What to do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I like to say that there is nothing called a perfect partner. It is normal to have some differences with the most intimate partners and accepting them helps to move forward. You need to have some collaboration as well as independence in the relationship. As he respects your decision to a great extent, it indicates that there is enough share between both of you. If you feel that there is a lot to improve, then have proper communication. It is the key and it can be initiated on your part whenever there is a need. I suggest you have a couple therapy and it can help to manage your pending issues. You can consult a nearby psychiatrist for having it.
