I have been drinking energy drinks regularly. I am starting to worry about the caffeine content and its effects on my heart. The caffeinated drinks, or the energy drinks are not reliable on a long-term basis. It should be consumed as per requirement, and people should restrict their consumption once per day, which will have less impact on heart health. Caffeine constricts the arterial walls, which leads to an increase in blood pressure, resulting in palpitation and other heart-related ailments. It may cause cardiac arrest (sudden unexpected loss of heart function) too, as the blood vessels do not dilate easily upon frequent caffeine intake. Thus intake of caffeine or energy drinks should be avoided before and after the exercise sessions. Only those drinks which are not rich in caffeine can be taken. But usually, they should be avoided, and consider taking them only once in a while.
