Is dream-reality dissonance a symptom of BPD?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am experiencing problems with dream-reality confusion. Is this indicative of borderline personality disorder? I envision something and discover it has previously occurred in the exact location with the same dress code, as well as some dreams that are becoming actual after some time. I also struggle with concentration. Why do you think this is happening?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Based on the information provided above, it is difficult to say if you have a borderline personality disorder; it is insufficient for a diagnosis. You could be experiencing déjà vu (a feeling of having already encountered the present situation). However, it is normal and unimportant unless it interferes with your daily life.

Thank you.
