What could be done to manage back pain due to a backpack?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Does wearing a heavy backpack during adolescence affect growth and development in the later years?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The bones present in the lower spine are called lumbar discs. Young adults have fluid accumulation around the discs for easier movement. These discs contribute an inch to your height.

During the later stages of life, the fluid becomes dry and starts to wear. This is a physiological process. There is no evidence to prove the instability, but it might result in back and neck pain. So exercise regularly. It helps the bones, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels free from pain and stiffness.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
