Alzheimer’s disease is a chronic neurological disease and the most common type of dementia, which results in memory problems due to the death of brain cells. The symptoms include an inability to remember new information, poor understanding, poor decision-making, inability to recognize faces, speech problems, and changes in behavior. As there is no known cure, treatment just gives symptomatic relief. The drugs used are cholinesterase inhibitors (Donepezil, Tacrine) and NMDA receptor antagonist (Memantine).
